Harmful solution found in "Coca-Cola", products recalled in Europe

"Coca-Cola Europacific Partners Belgium", a subsidiary of the food giant "The Coca-Cola Company", has announced that it is carrying out a mass recall of its products from the markets of Belgium, the United Kingdom, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, France and Germany due to high chlorate content.

According to "Report", the company told "Agence France-Presse" about this.

"There are no exact figures, but it is clear that we are talking about a significant quantity of product", - representatives of "Coca-Cola Europacific Partners Belgium" said.

According to them, the measures concern products in cans and bottles of the "Coca-Cola", "Sprite", "Fanta", "Fuze Tea", "Minute Maid", "Nalu", "Royal Bliss" and "Tropico" brands that have been in circulation since the end of November 2024. The company said the problem was detected in Ghent during quality checks of the drinks for compliance with production requirements.

The agency notes that most of the non-compliant products have already been withdrawn from circulation or were not released to the markets, and the company is working with the authorities of the countries concerned on recalling the remaining batch.

Karon Qrazett, a dietitian with the British National Health Service (NHS), told the BBC:

"We should think about whether we want to consume chemicals used in the production of fireworks and disinfectants in soft drinks, however small the amount".

Citing recent studies, the expert said that consuming foods containing chlorate can cause nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea and a reduced ability of the blood to absorb oxygen.
