Nuri Çomu, head of the Sunar group of companies, is one of the well-known figures who pay attention to halal rules.

Currently the Honorary Chairman of the Sunar Group, Hüseyn Nuri Çomu was elected in 2017 as chairman of the board of the İlim Yayma Cemiyeti Adana Branch in Turkey. Note that the İlim Yayma Cemiyeti is a well-known organization working for a halal way of life in Turkey.

• Sunar GIDA has received a halal certificate from GİMDES for almost all of its products. You can see the certificates both on Sunar's own website and on GİMDES's website.
• The most important nuance here is that Sunar has renewed its GİMDES certificate without interruption since 2010. This shows that the company has by now built its production process fully in line with GİMDES standards.
• In some cases, because of the production process, the company may not put the GİMDES logo on its products.

• In 2017 the company also established the Nuri Çomu Eğitim, Kültür, Manevi Değerlere Hizmet ve Yardımlaşma Vakfı. The foundation's main duties are to raise better individuals within the framework of the commands of the Islamic religion and to ensure the continuity and preservation of the teaching of spiritual and scientific values.

One of the companies of the Sunar Group, Elita Gıda San. and Ticarət. A.Ş produces vegetable oil by processing oilseeds grown in Turkey. It was founded in 2006. In 2012, with an additional investment of 20 million dollars, it reached its present capacity.

Thanks to the Sunar Group's 40 years of oil-production experience, Elita Gıda has been included in the ISO 500, the list of Turkey's industrial giants compiled by the Istanbul Chamber of Industry.

With half a century of experience, more than 1200 employees and a wide product range, the Sunar Group exports to 113 countries on 5 continents under its own brand.

The foundation of the Sunar Group was laid in the first half of the 1970s with investments by its founder Hacı Nuri Çomu in cotton-ginning and rice fields. The cotton-ginning and rice factory founded in 1974 could not survive to the present day because of problems in cotton growing in Çukurova. However, in 1976 Sunar Un ve Yem, the group's largest company, was established as a flour mill in Osmaniye. "Sunar Mısır" was founded in Adana in 1985, and NÇS Tarım and Elita Gıda in 2006

One of the Sunar companies, "Sunar Mısır", is a producer of low-calorie sweeteners such as Sorbitol and Maltitol. "Sunar Mısır" also has a significant share in Turkey's corn starch and glucose exports. Another group company, Elita Gıda, holds a leading position in Turkey's corn oil exports.
